I had several technical issues with the reader the first couple of days. (You may have seen my comments on YP itself.) But now that everything seems functional, I found the browser fairly easy to deal with. The text on the pirate chapter was a little hard to read. But that was the only one so far. I’ve only read the magazine’s new titles at this month because I’m a couple of issues behind on the print run. I don’t want to skip those chapters. Of the three new titles, Daniel X impressed me the most. I hope this venture proves successful for YP and paves the way for more legal online content.

If so, then I doubt it. Translation takes time, especially if it is to be done well. Plus, generally, domestic licensors like Yen Press aren’t going to license a Japanese or Korean title until it has proven itself successful in its respective home country first, and hopefully built up some hype in the Anglosphere as well.

Yes, specifically for items they already licensed for distribution in English speaking markets. I didn’t mean just Japenese/Korean stuff in general.

There’s Shojo Beat. /shrug I read Yen Plus every month till my backwater store stopped carrying it. Guess I was the only one in town reading it. I was set to get a sub when they announced digital format so it wasn’t really worth it until they change over. I’m sorry you don’t like to read the online stuff. It doesn’t really bother me and I will be happier without more stuff to clutter my space, however I can sympathize with you from the angle that I really don’t like paying money for something that isn’t tangible. In the end though subscribing to the online format will still support the mangaka and the creation of the books I can buy in the store. Although 10 bucks a book limits the collection some >.<

On the up side no more full page panels being violated by the binding :)

Perhaps you can you know print out the issues if you subscride. It’s not perfect but at least its not gone, right?

Shojo Beat is gone too, so there really IS only Shonen Jump left.

I hate reading manga online too. It’s so annoying to have to click every 2 seconds to turn the page, then wait another 2 seconds for it to load (I have slow internet). Scrolling up and down is annoying too, especially with the panels that take up a whole page. It just doesn’t have the same effect as when you can see the full page all at once. Sure, I could zoom out a bit so that the page fits onto the screen right? That makes the words too small for my comfort sometimes. I’m sorry, but I think Yen Plus is as good as dead to me too. ;__;

Yotsuba is definitely my favorite comedy manga. It never fails to crack me up. Especially the scene where Yotsuba, Ena and Miura are in Ena’s room, chaos occurs, and they all end up screaming their heads off… Well, I guess you have to read it to get it. I love it.
