Prom Night
Prom Night is a one-shot comic about two socially-awkward teenagers who decide to go to the prom together.
Overall, it’s about as good as that summary makes it sound, but it has some high points in the realistic dialogue and George Alexopoulos’s art, which is decidedly far less manga-like than anything else that’s ever been published in Yen Plus. Alexopoulos eschews gradients and glitter for a cleaner look with plenty of solid areas of black and white.
On his web site, Alexopoulos said of Prom Night:
I thought I liked it when I made it, and I did, but then I hated it when I read it in the magazine. I could see every little (and big) mistake, scrutinized every hole in the script, read it way too fast and therefore don’t even know if the pacing is good.
In 2006, Alexopoulos published a one-volume comic entitled Go With Grace through Tokyopop.
