Aloof student Miharu is nonchalance incarnate. He’d rather not be involved with, well, anything. So when classmate Kouichi tries to recruit him into the ninjitsu (ninja martial arts and tactics) club, Miharu is uninterested, predictably. After all, what good does ninjitsu do in modern Japan? A lot, as it turns out; unbeknownst to the general public, there are still warring tribes of ninja battling for power, hidden and underground to the rest of the world. And it turns out Miharu holds within him the Shinra Banshou, an ultimate form of ninjitsu which can turn those who know its secrets into all-powerful gods. That makes him quite a tempting target - a reality he comes to bear after narrowly escaping a violent attack by modern-day ninja with his life. With full reserves of reluctance, Miharu joins the club and learns to live - and survive - as a ninja.

Probably the best way to describe Nabari No Ou would be to say that it’s a slightly grown up version of Naruto. I’d go so far as to say it’s fairly clear that Nabari No Ou is trying to cash in on Naruto’s ridiculous success. Make of that what you will; personally I don’t find Naruto very interesting. I initially didn’t find Nabari No Ou very interesting either, but I must admit that it’s starting to grow on me gradually.
