"Beware the ides of March?" What the heck is an "ide," anyway?

After some delays due to my DSL modem going on the fritz, and further delays due to good old-fashioned laziness, I’ve now got the updates for the March issue up. The highlight special feature of this issue for me was the sizable interview with NaRae Lee, with photographs - Miss Lee does the nerd-chic glasses look quite well.

Premiering this issue was a new column entitled Otaku Pimp, by one Keisuke Taguchi. I’m not sure what to make of the one-page introductory article. Taguchi says he was influenced by hip-hop music and decided he wanted to become a pimp, but he realized his inabilities to mack on girls and get into fights, so he stayed home and played dating and fighting games instead. I’m not really sure how much of this is in earnest, but I could see female readers possibly taking offense to the whole rap-inspired glorification of pimping thing rearing its ugly head in the pages of Yen Plus. Get your own copy of the March issue, read the column, and decide for yourself.

Goong ends its extended three-issue preview with a plot twist. Romantic comedy isn’t my cup of tea, but were you hooked?

Finally, this weekend, I’ll be heading down to San Francisco with some old college friends of mine to attend the WonderCon comics convention. Too bad it looks like Yen Press won’t be there… But maybe I’ll meet you there. Just go up to every average-looking guy you see and ask him if he’s the Yen Plus Info guy. Eventually you’ll find me.

Don’t forget to contact me and let me know what you think of Yen Plus or the world at large.
